Type Locality and Naming
Jiaolai Basin. The Fanggezhuang Formation was named by Du Benming in 1991. The type Locality is in Fanggezhuang of the Changzhi Town of Jimo, Shandong. The key section is the Qianjiakong section in the Jiaohe town of the Jiaonan City (119°44', 36°01').
Lithology and Thickness
The Fanggezhuang Formation is a group of volcanic rocks, consists mostly of basalt trachyandesite and hungarite intercalated with some clastic sedimentary rocks.

Lower contact
It overlies the Shiqianzhuang Fm conformably.
Upper contact
It is covered by the overlying Linjiazhuang Fm unconformably.
Regional extent
The Fanggezhuang Formation is distributed in eastern Shandong.
